Cocoon Harvest 2014

29 July 2014

cocoon harvest

So I bought 250 eggs for pink cocoons and I now have 675 cocoons 🙂 of many colors, not many white ones.  I gave many worms away. I did not do a good job this year of mounting the silkworms to spin their cocoons and there are many double ones and many poor quality or soiled ones. But they are stifled and put away for now.

Thanks to all who helped with leaves and harvesting the cocoons themselves.  It takes a village to raise silkworms…

This process was so much fun to be a part of from beginning to end. And the village was glad to help raise these cocoons.
